Cut — Where Brilliance Begins

Cut determines how effectively a diamond reflects and returns light. It is what creates the brightness, fire and sparkle you see when the stone moves. Even a diamond with exceptional colour and clarity can appear dull if its proportions compromise light performance. This is why we consider cut the most important of the four Cs.

Certification & Transparency

The Paperwork Matters. But so Does the Eye.

Certificate

We'll review the diamond certificate with you and explain what it all means, so you can understand the grading and make an informed decision without having to do all the homework yourself.

Proportions

We'll review the diamond certificate with you and explain what it all means, so you can understand the grading and make an informed decision without having to do all the homework yourself.

Visual Review

It's not all about the paperwork. We personally hand pick and visually review every diamond because a certificate doesn't always tell the full story. Whether you're with us in person or online from anywhere in the world, we'll make sure your diamond truly sparkles.

Lab-grown Diamonds

Same Beauty. Different Origin.

Lab-grown diamonds are created in controlled environments rather than mined from the earth. They are chosen for beauty, value, and a more considered sourcing path.

Why People Choose Them

Many clients choose lab-grown diamonds for value, allowing them to prioritise size, quality, or design within the same budget.

What to Check

Certification, cut quality, proportions, and real light performance matter more than chasing the highest grade on paper.

What They Are

Lab-grown diamonds offer the visual beauty people expect from fine jewellery, with a different origin story and a more transparent buying process.

Frequently Ask Questions

A Few Things Worth Knowing.

Guidance on our process, craft, and commissions.

A commission unfolds over six to eight weeks, from the first appointment to the finished piece. The early weeks are given to selection and design; the remainder to the workshop, where the piece is set by hand. Timelines are shaped by the nature of the design and the stone, and we provide a considered estimate once the brief is settled. Where an occasion is fixed, tell us the date, and the house will work to meet it.

Yes. A lab grown diamond is diamond in every physical, chemical, and optical respect. It is graded to the same standards, certified by the same laboratories, and indistinguishable to the eye. The single distinction is origin: one is formed within the earth over millennia, the other grown under the same conditions in a matter of weeks. We work almost exclusively in lab grown stones because they allow a finer diamond for the same investment, with no compromise in quality.

Certainly, and it is among the most meaningful work we undertake. A number of our commissions begin with a stone already held: an inherited diamond, or a stone from a piece no longer worn. Before any design proceeds, the stone is examined closely for its condition, as older stones can carry inclusions or wear that affect how they may be reset. We will advise you honestly on what can be done, and on any precautions the setting requires, so that its history is carried safely into something made to be worn again. Sentiment is treated with the same care as the metal.

We do. Much of the consultation can happen remotely, with secure shipping and full certification for clients outside Melbourne.

Gentle regular cleaning and periodic professional checks keep it brilliant. We include care guidance with every piece.
